Join us to discuss scenarios and plans for the ‘day after’ in Gaza and the implications for the future of Palestinian statehood.

In the aftermath of 7 October, huge portions of Gaza’s infrastructure have been destroyed. It is estimated that over 29,000 Palestinians have died, and over 90% of Gazans have been displaced.

Against this backdrop, understanding what a ‘day after’ looks like for Palestine, Israel, and the region, is becoming increasingly important. In addition to dealing with the immediate devastation in Gaza, substantive discussions on what a political process for the resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict might look like have started. While a plan is yet to be outlined to offer a path to a sustainable peace agreement, the US, Palestine and others in the region and internationally are making it a focus.

Please join us for this critical discussion covering:

  • How might a ceasefire be achieved in the short-term to facilitate ‘day after’ plans in the longer-term?
  • What steps is the Palestinian Authority taking for the ‘day after’?
  • What does a realistic workplan look like for Gaza?
  • What support is needed to achieve it?
  • What could a political settlement look like for the Israel-Palestine conflict?

This event will be held under the Chatham House rule.
