WCEF 2024 Accelerator Session: Sharing findings from the world’s first global stocktake of national circular economy roadmaps.
In an era where governments are increasingly adopting circular economy roadmaps as primary accelerators of the transition, it becomes imperative to scrutinize their nature, production process, governance, and effectiveness.
As a WCEF 2024 Accelerator Session, conducted by Chatham House and supported by UNIDO, the session will cover over 70 national circular economy roadmaps and strategies, encompassing more than 2700 policy actions. Findings from this review of circular economy roadmaps will be complimented with deep dives into the recent launch of the African Circular Economy Roadmap and Chilean national circular economy roadmap.
This session aims to bridge the knowledge-gap, shedding light on the critical aspects of these roadmaps. Bringing ground-breaking insights to global conversations by presenting the findings of the world’s first global stocktake of national circular economy roadmaps, it will examine the rapid proliferation of national and regional circular economy roadmaps and strategies. It will present what types of actions these roadmaps commit to, how they are governed and their utility in the wider circular transition.
Attendees will gain a comprehensive overview of:
- The global development of these roadmaps.
- The processes and contexts in which they were produced.
- The types of actions that have been committed to.
- The implications for governments developing their own strategies.
