Met issues yellow warning for much of southern England, parts of north-east England, eastern Scotland and Wales
A record-breaking storm has caused widespread damage and disruption across parts of the UK, with winds of up to 102mph and heavy rain hitting southern England and the Channel Islands.
Some of those caught up in Storm Ciarán said they had not seen such extreme conditions for years, and the Met Office declared that a new November record for the lowest mean sea level pressure in England and Wales had been set.
